Project Community Connect
Here is a photo of our three nurses (Mary, Heidi, and Barb) along with our Director (Amber) at the Project Community Connect (PCC) event held on November 19th.
We were happy to be a part of a coordinated medical services area along with partners: St Mary’s, Scott County Mobile Clinic, and St Francis. The event helped 400 people in Scott and Carver counties who are homeless or near homeless and the medical area provided medical exams and resources to 30+ people.

Our Minnesota Immunization Networking Initiative representatives attended the 4th Faith-Based and Public Health Partnership meeting in Atlanta at Emory University/Rollins School of Public Health. This nation-wide project provides free seasonal-flu vaccines in locations such as churches and other community settings. River Valley Health Services gave over 300 immunizations at 2 church-locations this past season. We will again be participating in the fall/spring immunization program…watch our website and Facebook for times and locations.
RVNC Attends MINI
Our Minnesota Immunization Networking Initiative (MINI) project team at the Faith-Based Public Health Partnerships: Strengthening Community Networks meeting in Atlanta April 16-17th. Our program represented 102 vaccination events in Minnesota and over 7200 people vaccinated in 2011. The organization represented were: Fairview Hospitals, St. Mary’s Health Clinics, Open Cities Health Center, Minnesota Faith Health Consortium, Minnesota Department of Health and the River Valley Health Services. This initiative has proven to be a wonderful contribution to the health of our uninsured and underinsured.

Floreciendo/Blooming…a wonderful event at Gracias Ministerios that River Valley participated in March 31st. The event’s focus was encouraging women to be all that they can be as a person, in their home and in their church. Kris Huinker from WIC presented recipe ideas for busy women. Blood pressure and diabetes screenings were provided to all. What a day for all of us!! Thank you for inviting us.
